Education and qualifications

PhD, Deakin Graduate School of Business, Deakin University, Melbourne (2010 - 2015)

Thesis titled Unhealthy food promotion to under 18s: Deeper insights, new interpretations.

Adopting a cross-disciplinary approach, I investigated the promotion of unhealthy foods and beverages to children and adolescents. I applied a qualitative methodology involving two parallel studies to explore this issue with both marketing professionals and members of the food and beverage industries, and public health advocates. By drawing more broadly from critical theory, sociology and social psychology—as well as existing literature directly related to this topic—I provided deeper insights and new interpretations on this issue.

I produced several publications and my work subsequently informed discussions with public health and consumer policy advocates.
